Project Details
MMC O&G was awarded the Front End Engineering Design Services for J4 and D21 Field Development, which encompasses 2 phases i.e:
Phase I: Flow Assurance and Conceptual Study
Phase II: Front End Engineering Design
Base case is for both platforms to flow to host platform (D-35) via pipeline. Various concepts had to be studied against the PCSB business drivers and the most optimum concept was selected.
Duration of the project is 18 weeks made up of Phase 1 duration of 6 weeks and Phase II duration of 12 weeks.
In Phase I, flow assurance activity MMCOG had to determine the flow assurance to the waxiness of the available crude from J4 and D21 to host platform.
Phase II: Front End Engineering Design (FEED) services includes the following:
(i) Basic design work for Phase II will be categorised as follows:
·
|
Weight and space optimization and the possible utilization of Compact Manifold and multiport valves. |
Reliable and accurate well testing facilities.
·
|
Identification of the receiving facilities (D35 Complex) capacity to handle the production from J4 and D21 wells including riser, pipeline launcher/receiver, etc. |
·
|
Detailing of tie-in to the host platforms/facilities and modification/upgrading of existing host platforms/facilities or nearby infrastructures including riser, pipeline launcher/receiver, etc. |
·
|
Application of SIPROD mode for production during the drilling phase and future work over/drilling. |
·
|
Application of SIPCOM mode for the host tie-in platforms during installation, hookup and commissioning and future major maintenance work. |
·
|
Remote monitoring and control capabilities. |
·
|
Utilization of proven latest technology application/equipment. |
·
|
Verify, update and optimise various development, operating, maintenance and sparing philosophies. |
·
|
Verify, evaluate and optimise cost effective decks and substructure configuration. |
·
|
Prepare Front End Engineering Design deliverables. |
·
|
Prepare the Scope of Work, DBM and CTR for EPCIC. The scope shall include also the modifications on the existing host platforms/facilities. |
·
|
Develop equipment specifications for all equipments. |
·
|
Document and drawings reviews. |
Platform description:
J4 are located offshore Bintulu Sarawak. J4 platform is 53km west of D35 with D21 located 13km north east of D35. Base case for oil evacuation via tie-in to D35 platform via 12” line from J4 and 10” line from D21. The water depth in the J4 and D21 area is 53m and 49 m respectively. First oil is targeted for Q3 2008. This are unmanned minimal facilities and caters for catilevered jack-up drilling.
As a base case, J4 Drilling Platform A (J4DP-A) and D21 Drilling Platform A (D21DP-A) are designed for unmanned operations with minimal facilities concept. Other developments schemes utilizing Floaters, Subsea System and relocatable facilities were also are evaluated to arrive to the optimum development option in terms of accelerating the first oil at reasonable investment cost. The base case option is envisioned to be a tripod drilling platform to support minimal facilities topsides, where each platform would accommodate 6-conductor slots with total of 10 wells (4× 26” dual wellheads and 2 × 26’ conventional single wellhead). However this was later changed to 4-legged platform after the conceptual study was completed. Facilities shall be designed for drilling using cantilevered jack-up rig.
J4 and D21 fields are planned to be developed in an integrated fashion and their (J4 & D21) structures and facilities will serve as satellite platforms to the D35 Complex to take advantage of the existing D35 production facilities.
