This project was undertaken by MMC O & G as a roll over to Lawit A Complex Detailed Design . It entailed the detailed designing of 2 compression modules designated as Module 1 (M1) and Module 2(M2) which are both located on the South of Lawit 'A' Production Platform. These two compression trains enabled an increase in gas production export to 700 mmscfd. The compressors are gas-driven with two stage compressions combined in a single casing. The facilities also include suction scrubbers and discharge gas coolers. Upon completion of the compression trains, the operating pressure was reduced from free flow to 6400kPa.
The engineering work provide includes detailed design, procurement assistance and provision for special studies. This project started in April 1995 and the Issue for Bid design package was issued in March 1996, whereas the construction package was completed and issued in November 1996. The construction package is a combined Fabrication and hook-up and commissioning package. A total of 38,000 man-hours were utilized for the detailed design. Each compression module weighs 1700 MT. The main equipment include gas driven compressors, scrubber vessels, gas coolers, fire and gas system and a distributed control system. A total of 1200 drawings completed on AutoCAD were issued during the detailed design. Special studies were also carried out and they include Noise Study, Acoustic induced Vibration, Dynamic Simulation and HAZOP.
In addition to this, a scale plastic model was also constructed for design review purposes.
The project quality system was undertaken in full compliance to MS-ISO 9001. Apart from this, two new procedures, namely the Assumption Log and the Scale Model Procedure was successfully introduced and implemented in this project.
Local fabricators fabricated the modules. The compression modules were successfully commissioned and started up in September 1998.
